What if my points are less than 60 and get C category? (I am from India)

Danica MAI

If you points are less than 60 and get C category, it will be hard for you to get the work permit. Even your employer get the C-category work permit for you, this work permit usually is only six-month validity, and usually you can renew it only one time.
Usually Bachelor degree is a very important doc for applying work permit, if you have one, you usually belongs to B category. If you don’t have one, you most belongs to C category.

What about an “old man” aged 64 who has 84 points? Hopeless case???

Danica MAI

In the past years, a foreigner can not work in China above 60 years old. But from 2017 on, if a foreigner belongs to A category, he can work in China even over 60 years old.
But in China, the statutory age of retirement for man is 65 years old, so normally a school or company will not hire a people whose age is 65 nearly.

Hello,

My case is an odd one and I wanted to see if my situation would allow me to get a Chinese work visa. I am a Ring Announcer. I’m one of the guy’s in the tuxedo that announces at boxing events and such. If a Chinese event promoter wanted to hire me to work regular events where I would travel to China for a few days at a time just to work the individual events could I get a work permit under these circumstances? I’m accomplished in my field but they don’t really give awards for that sort of thing. No Nobell Peace Awards of anything. LOL.

Danica MAI

Ring Announcer is not an encouraged position in the relevant list. But the most important thing for get a work visa is Whether you meet the requirement of the work permit( A or B category), and you are hired by an enterprise, not what you worked .
For you case, you may ask your employer to get a short-term work permit (Less than 90 days).

Hi, I want to ask about how possible it is for an EU national to apply for a Z visa if they have a Bachelors and Masters degree ( from outside China), Chinese level around hsk 4, 4 years of work experience inside China. I heard that China is demanding foreigners have a certain number of years of work experience outside of China?

Danica MAI

You have a good condition meet the requirements of Chinese work vise especially you have worked in China for 4 years. The work experience that outside of China or within China are both OK. And the most important thing is that you need to get a letter from your former employer to show you really worked for them.

Nina Knight

Wow! Thank you so much for the quick reply! These letters need to be from all past employers, or the last employer within China? With an official stamp? It’s been two years already since I left China but I am considering moving back.

Danica MAI

Only need one letter from one of your former employer , no matter in or out of China; and a signature of a HR head or boss must be on it, and if your former can stamp their official seal on it, that would be very good; and in the letter it need to present you have two years work experience similar with the work you will do in China;

I am on a 4year honours degree program at uni. I have done 3 years. this year I am taking a gap year and want to teach English in China.

Can a potential employer motivate for me to get a z visa?

Danica MAI

I think you can not get a Z visa. Usually the internship is only for the foreign students who study in China, or their country has a internship program agreement with Chinese government . If you are not study in China, and your country don’t have the internship program agreement with Chinese government, you can’t get the intern permit.

Tevinn Richards

Hello, I’m looking to see if there’s a chance that I may be able to successfully apply for a work permit in China. I am currently 24 years old, and I have over four years of experience as a volunteer English teacher to foreign students. I’ve previously studied Mandarin in Shandong province, and I have passed the HSK at the 6th level. I do not currently hold a university degree, but I am working towards a TESL certification.

Danica MAI

So what you need to do is try to get a university degree. Foreigners whose average income is not less than 4 times the regional average income last year is also belongs to B category, so if you can find a job more than RMB30000 per month, maybe you also can get a B work permit.

Thank you for your helpful blog. I’ve was granted working visa for 1 year in 2017 which expires shortly. I now have a new employer and need to apply for visa after receiving working permit. Unbeknown to me when the previous contract with the employer was cancelled the true reason for cancellation was not stated and he had actually lied giving me a poor reference. I only discovered this after I had signed the mutually cancelled contract. We have no communication between us and I will not be able to obtain a letter from him stating I had previously worked for him!can you please advise how I need to go about getting visa for new job in China

Danica MAI

Do you work for another employers before? If yes, you can ask these employers issue a two year relevance work qualification.

glynn

Yes I worked for previous employer but have since moved and have no contact with previous employer any longer. Can I just apply for new z visa without reference letter from previous employer now?
Thank you for your response

Danica MAI

If you belong to A category, You can apply the new z visa without reference letter, but just submit a letter of commitment of your previous work experience. If you are B or C category, you must get a reference letter when application.
If you are not A category, then you can’t. Because the reference letter is one of the requirements must be submitted in the application.

Hi Danica Mai , i am a MAster Student in Hospitality Management. I do have a Bachelor degree and i will soon have my master degree certificate. You said earlier that having a Bachelor degree puts the person in the category B. However when i try to fill the point system from i still fall under 60. As it will be my first real work experience my salary will be quite low ( work in Shanghai ) and at the end i usually finish with a score of 50-52. I don’t understand so it means my master degree doesn’t change anything ? i know that category C usually do not receive the visa so im quite concerned about it. I would truly appreciate if you could tell me if i have a chance or not.

Danica MAI

HI Raphael, the point system is working when someone can’t meet some requirements listed in the table. For example: For B category, if someone don’t have bachelor, or don’t have 4 times of
average salary of local people,or can’t meet any items 1-5, then he can use this point system to check if he still can meet the requirement of category B.

Raphael

Thank you for your answer ! so assuming i have a bachelor degree and a master degree
but less than a year of experience , do you think i have a chance to get the working visa ?

Thank you

Danica MAI

You can found that the work experience is not involved in all of items of requirements.
