To help people to know the requirement and work flow of application of Chinese work , I post the related official docs on my blog.
Firstly, you need to know whether you can work in China: Pls read the ‘classification standards of foreigners working in china???

If you belong to A or B Category, you can get a work if one company in China hire you. It’s really hard to people who belong to C category to get a work in China, and even you can get a work permit, the validity is uaually only 6 months. And for people in A category, the validity of work permit can be 1??? years, and you can also work in China even above 60 year old. For B category, the work permit can be 1??? years, and you need to renew it on time.
Secondly you need to know the work flow of application of your work notice, z-visa, work permit, and resident permit.

The whole procedure for foreigner to work in China is :
1)Hired by a Chinese Company->
2)Prepare docs by employees(it may take youself one or two month to do it)->
3)Get a Notice Letter of Foreigner’s Work Permit( This will be done by your employer, it will take about 15 to 25 days)->
4)Get Z-visa by employees( You need to get it from a Chinese embassy) ->
5)Go into China->
6)Medical examination, get temporary resident permit(from local police station) (it will take about 1 week)->
7)Get work permit by employer (it will take two weeks)->
8)Get residence permit for employee from Exit-Entry Administration Bureau by employer
P.S: Once a foreigner go into China with a Z visa, they need to change their Z visa into a working residence permit withing 30 days!
